Sterling is a medium gray in the Cuddle Extra Wide collection from Shannon Fabrics. This solid minky has a plush 3mm pile, is 100% polyester, and comes in a 90" width that cuts down on piecing for many quilt backs.
Gray is one of the most versatile backing colors, and Sterling works behind bright modern quilts, soft pastels, and bold graphic designs alike. It’s a smart choice for teen and dorm quilts, masculine throws, and gifts when you aren’t sure of someone’s color preferences, and it hides lint and everyday wear better than white.
Cuddle is also great for throws, pillows, pet beds, apparel, and stuffed animals. If you’re new to minky, use a walking foot and plenty of pins or clips to keep the layers aligned. Compare Sterling with Cloudy for a lighter gray and Chrome for a softer, cooler tone.
