Alloy is a medium steel gray from Shannon Fabrics’ Cuddle Extra Wide line, a solid minky with a plush 3mm pile. It’s 100% polyester and 90" wide, so you can back many quilts in one piece.
This clean, balanced gray is one of the most versatile backing colors. It works behind modern, graphic, and bright quilt tops, suits teen and dorm quilts, and hides lint and everyday wear better than lighter colors. It’s a safe pick when you aren’t sure of someone’s color preferences.
Cuddle is also great for throws, pet beds, pillows, and apparel. Compare Alloy with Sterling for a similar medium gray and Gunmetal for a dark charcoal. If you’re new to minky, a walking foot and a slightly longer stitch help it feed evenly.
