Shades in Lettuce is a mottled print quilting cotton from Riley Blake Designs, made from 100% cotton. The mottling is the point: unlike a flat solid, the tonal variation gives the surface something to look at while staying quiet enough to sit behind a busier print. On a fresh light green the variation reads as new foliage or spring growth, which gives the color a naturalness a flat green rarely holds.
The fabric works three ways in a project. As a background it gives piecing room to breathe, and a light green suits spring and garden themes, baby quilts, and floral projects where you want leaves without the weight of a deep green. As binding it finishes an edge softly rather than framing it hard, which works on quilts with a light overall palette. And on its own it holds as a feature fabric when the construction is doing the visual work. Beyond quilting, it suits bag linings, pouches and table linens. This listing is fabric only: no pattern, batting, thread or notions are included.
