Mural in Charcoal spreads oversized botanical and organic motifs across a deep charcoal ground, drawn large enough that each shape reads from across the room. The fabric is quilting cotton printed 108 inches wide, which is the practical part. A standard 42- to 44-inch print has to be seamed two or three times to cover a quilt back, and those seams add bulk, take time, and can pull the backing out of square. At 108 inches, one width handles most quilt sizes on its own. Large-scale prints also suit this format well, since there is room for the motifs to run without a seam cutting through them.
