Art Theory Wide in Night takes one of Alison Glass's signature detailed designs and scales it up for extra-wide yardage. Oversized moths, flowers, and organic shapes sit against a dark background, and the contrast is what carries the print — the lighter motifs read almost lit from within against all that depth. It's a dramatic choice for a quilt back, and a strong enough print to use on the front if you want it there.
The fabric is quilting cotton printed 108 inches wide, which cuts the piecing considerably. Backing a quilt with standard 42- to 44-inch yardage means two or three seams to sew, press, and keep square, all before the quilting starts. A single 108-inch width covers most quilt sizes without any of that, and a detailed design like this one stays whole rather than getting broken up by a seam.
