Hexies in Raspberry is a hand-dyed cotton batik from the Banyan Batiks Studio for Northcott. The Hexies line covers a broad set of warm and cool colorways, all sharing the same tone-on-tone hexagon motif, so you can build a coordinated quilt by mixing several colors of one print.
The hexagon design is worked in a shade close to the background, so it adds geometric structure without the contrast of a two-color print. Up close you see the honeycomb shapes; from across the room the fabric reads as a rich, textured raspberry.
This colorway is a strong option for the warm side of a quilt, for binding, and for blocks that need a deep pink-red without a floral look. It sits well beside Banyan Shadows in Red for a tonal pairing, or against grayscale and white batiks for a graphic, modern layout.
Banyan Batiks are handmade by artisans in Indonesia, so slight variation between bolts is part of the process. Prewash reds and pinks before combining them with light fabrics, and buy the full amount for a project at one time.
