Caribbean is a colorway in Hexies, a hand-dyed batik collection by the Banyan Batiks Studio for Northcott. Each Hexies fabric uses the same tone-on-tone hexagon motif, and the line is offered in a range of warm and cool colors that combine easily.
A one-print, many-color line like this solves a common problem in scrappy quilts: keeping a varied palette from looking chaotic. When every patch shares the same hexagon texture, the colors can change freely while the quilt still feels unified.
Use Caribbean in hexagon and honeycomb designs, modern geometric quilts, or as a border that echoes colors from the center of the quilt. It also works for smaller projects such as table runners, zip pouches, and placemats, where a tightly woven batik holds up well to frequent use and washing.
Banyan Batiks are handmade by artisans in Indonesia on a 100% cotton base, 44/45" wide. Hand-dyed color can vary a little between bolts, so plan to buy all the yardage for a project at once, and prewash if you are combining it with light fabrics.
