The Sunflower in the Cabin Quilt Kit turns Harvest on the Prairie fabrics into a showstopping 96" x 96" quilt. Designed by Modern Prairie for Riley Blake Designs, the pattern arranges pieced log cabin blocks into one giant sunflower. A center of wine and raisin blocks with sunflower prints is surrounded by golden "petals," set on soft cream and blush blocks and finished with a sunflower print border.
The kit includes the pattern plus fabric for the quilt top and binding, packaged in a keepsake box of about 11" x 12" x 3 3/4". You'll need to supply batting and backing. Riley Blake recommends 8 2/3 yards of 43"/44" fabric for the back, or you can use a 108" wide back to cut down on piecing.
Log cabin blocks are built from strips sewn around a center square, so the construction is straightforward even though the finished design looks intricate. The generous size makes it a statement quilt for a queen bed or an heirloom to pass down. It's an especially good pick if you're already collecting Harvest on the Prairie and want a project that shows off the whole line.
