Peony Aubergine brings one of Garden Dalliance's accent colors into Garden Threads, the coordinating collection Shelley Cavanna designed for Benartex. Shelley built the Garden Dalliance palette on indigo grounds with botanical color, then added pops of buttercup yellow and aubergine; this print gives you that aubergine in yardage.
The ground is a deep plum with a small stitched-look geometric motif in a brighter purple-magenta. There's a bit more contrast here than in the teal colorway, so the motif shows up clearly up close while the fabric still reads as a dark from across the room.
Because aubergine is an accent color in the collection, small doses go a long way. Try Peony Aubergine in cornerstones, a narrow inner border, flower centers, or a binding that frames a quilt made mostly from indigo and berry prints. For a second aubergine with a different texture, pair it with Orange Blossom Aubergine from the same collection.
Both collections were designed for the projects in Shelley's book, Garden Dalliance Sampler (C&T Publishing, 2026). Peony Aubergine is also a rich choice for pincushions, pouches and holiday table runners.
