Orange Blossom Buttercup puts one of Garden Dalliance's accent colors into a soft, usable coordinate. Shelley Cavanna designed the Garden Dalliance palette for Benartex with pops of buttercup yellow and aubergine, and Garden Threads, the companion collection, turns that buttercup into yardage.
The ground is a pale butter yellow printed with white interlocking circles in dashed, stitch-like lines, with small white stars where the circles meet. The overlapping circles create an orange peel layout, and the light color keeps the overall effect gentle rather than bright.
Yellow is the color that makes a garden quilt feel sunny, but a strong yellow can take over quickly. A pale print like this lets you add warmth in larger areas: star centers, flower centers in appliqué, light backgrounds for spring blocks, or alternate blocks in a sampler. It also pairs well with the collection's grass greens and aquas.
Garden Threads and Garden Dalliance were created together for the projects in Shelley's book, Garden Dalliance Sampler (C&T Publishing, 2026). Orange Blossom Buttercup is also a cheerful pick for baby quilts, Easter projects and kitchen linens.
