Orange Blossom Aubergine is one of the darkest prints in Garden Threads, the companion collection Shelley Cavanna designed for Benartex alongside Garden Dalliance. The ground is a deep eggplant purple, printed with black interlocking circles in dashed, stitch-like lines and small black stars at the intersections.
Because the design is printed in a darker tone than the ground, it reads as a near-solid aubergine from across the room, with a subtle texture up close. That makes it a dependable dark: use it for binding, outer borders, block backgrounds behind brighter appliqué, or the dark half of half-square triangles. It brings the aubergine accent from the Garden Dalliance palette into larger areas without feeling heavy-handed.
For a second aubergine with a different texture, pair it with Peony Aubergine, which shows its motif in a brighter purple. Both are part of the collection Shelley designed for the projects in her book, Garden Dalliance Sampler (C&T Publishing, 2026), which pairs quilt blocks with cross-stitch patterns.
Off the quilt, Orange Blossom Aubergine is a practical fabric for bag exteriors, zipper pouches and fall or winter table runners.
