Appliqué Foot #23 is a BERNINA presser foot made for appliqué worked in a narrow satin stitch, up to 2 mm wide. Its design lets fabric feed smoothly over stitches already laid down, so the foot doesn't stall or drag even through very dense rows of stitching — the point at which a general-purpose foot usually starts fighting you. A clear sole keeps the stitch area visible throughout, which matters most when you're following an outline around a curve or pivoting into a corner and need to see exactly where the needle will land.
A cutout at the front of the foot holds a narrow couching thread in place, making satin stitching with cording straightforward rather than fiddly. Underneath, a wide thread channel gives raised stitching and cord somewhere to sit, which also makes the foot well suited to mini-piping and a range of traditional sewing techniques beyond appliqué.
