Royal is the bold blue colorway in Aura, QT Fabrics' collection of 108" wide watercolor blenders. The 100% cotton fabric is printed with mottled color that moves from bright royal blue into lighter sky tones, so it has plenty of energy while still reading as a blender rather than a print.
A saturated blue back makes sense for quilts with a lot of blue, red, and white on top, including patriotic quilts, quilts for veterans, ocean and beach themes, and sports quilts in team colors. It also adds a pop of color behind a neutral quilt when you want the reverse side to have its own personality. The watercolor texture keeps quilting stitches from standing out.
At 108" wide, one length can back many quilts with fewer seams than 44" fabric, saving time before the quilt goes on the longarm. Royal is also bright enough for a binding that frames a quilt with a crisp line of color, and larger scraps work well for pillow backs and bags.
